6 Years Old Jane

October 2024

Jane Nangobi, a 6-year-old girl with severe sickle cell anemia, recently faced complications involving painful blisters and swelling, severely limiting her ability to walk or feed herself. Initially, medication-induced side effects worsened her condition, but after adjustments and new medications, her symptoms began improving. During her hospital stay, an X-ray revealed pus in her bones, requiring transfer to a specialized hospital in Jinja. The medical costs have been substantial, but community donations helped cover daily expenses and medication.

After several weeks of treatment, Jane’s health has notably improved. She regained her appetite, became more active, and was even able to play—something she couldn’t do before. Last Saturday, she was discharged and returned home, where her family observed her continuing recovery with joy. Her family extends their deepest gratitude for all prayers and support, which have made this progress possible.

New School Year!

September 2024

In September, the new school year began. Our children attend a day school, which means they come home every day. Thanks to your help, we were able to buy books, notebooks, pens, and pencils. The children don’t receive school supplies from the school, so we are responsible for providing everything they need.

For your information, the children also do not receive meals at school. Last semester, we were able to pay for meals, but unfortunately, this semester we didn’t have enough funds. The cost for food is about €35 per term, and developmental fees are around €10, making a total of €45 per term, which is €135 per year for each child. These are very high costs.

Nevertheless, we are happy that God blesses us with everything we have. Thanks to the help of many people, the children always have smiles on their faces.

Besides school supplies, we also managed to buy some balls and jump ropes so the children can play during their free time. 🙂

Once again, a big, big thank you!

Remote Villages.

July 2024

We embarked on a journey several kilometers from my home to reach some remote villages. A friend who was familiar with the area kindly agreed to accompany me and assist in finding the people in need.

Before setting out, we stocked up on essential supplies. We bought 10-kilogram bags of cornmeal, a box containing 12 bars of soap, and a complete set of salt. We also purchased matchsticks, which are essential for lighting fires in these areas, and a generous amount of bread.

Upon reaching the villages, we prayed blessings over the people we met. It’s heartening to see how much faith these communities have in Jesus; they already know the gospel. Our role was to remind them that the Lord loves and knows them deeply.

We were able to assist 10 very needy families, many of whom were widows. We also helped a blind and disabled woman. The gratitude they expressed was overwhelming.

Interestingly, many people in this village have never seen a smartphone; they are only familiar with old button phones. They were initially wary of us, as they associate free gifts with devil worship and sacrifices. We took the time to explain that we have friends who love and care for them and that these gifts were acts of kindness from those who want to support others.

I was amazed by the number of churches here—almost every spot had one. These people have a profound connection with Jesus, perhaps even more so than many others I’ve encountered.

We left the village with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that we brought a bit of hope and help to those in need. Thank you to everyone who supports this mission with your donations and prayers. Your contributions are making a significant difference in these communities.

Accident At Home And Hospital Fee.

June 2024

On June 10, 2024, Gabriel went to the hospital with his friend whose wife was having a baby. By chance, he met his friend there, who works with him at the market selling vegetables. His friend, Kagoya, Mwondha’s mother, told him that her son, who is just learning to walk, accidentally knocked over boiling milk. The milk spilled on the boy and burned a large part of his body.

Kagoya asked Gabriel if his friends (from Europe and America) could help pay the hospital bill, which was 500 euros. Kagoya had less than a week to pay the bill. In Bulgiri, people with good jobs earn an average of 50 euros a month, so 500 euros is a big expense, especially since it came up suddenly. The hospital costs included treatment, medicine, food, and a 10-day stay.

On June 11, we started an urgent action to raise the needed amount for Kagoya and Mwondha. Thanks to God’s great grace and your wonderful hearts, we collected a little more than needed in just 12 hours. An amazing thing. Hallelujah!

On June 12, the hospital bill was paid. Please see the photos below. The whole action went well, and the child is slowly recovering; it just needs some more time. Glory to God and thanks to everyone who helped bring this matter to a good end, whether financially or through prayer.

New Clothes.

June 2024

We had some money left from the last actions. We decided to make the children happy and, with the help of a local tailor, we prepared and bought new clothes. We also got sandals to match the clothes, which are perfect for African weather and conditions. Just look at the joy of the children who didn’t always get to wear new, clean clothes! Pure joy – FURAHA!

School Materials and Mosquito Nets.

May 2024

In May 2024, God blessed us abundantly. Besides benches and tables, we managed to buy 5 additional mattresses for sleeping. We also bought school supplies, and mosquito nets. All the children received books and pencils to be well-prepared for new school activities. Additionally, we bought insect and mosquito nets for each child. This is important in Africa because of the high risk of malaria from mosquito bites. The net lets air through, so it doesn’t make sleeping difficult but still protects from insects. Thank you very much for your help and support!

Benches And Tables.

May 2024

During the Pentecost holiday, the Lord blessed us with many donations. We received a lot of money from you, for which we are very grateful. Thank you very much for your support and help. What a joy! With the money we received, we could hire a carpenter to make benches and tables for our children. As you can see in the previous pictures, the children used to eat their meals on the ground. But that’s in the past now. The children no longer eat and will not eat on the ground but on new, freshly made benches and tables. By giving this work to the carpenter, we also supported his hands’ work and his family.

Below are some pictures of transporting the benches and tables to the children. The children were very happy.
We celebrated Pentecost with a meal on the new, beautiful benches. Thank you!

New Mattresses.

April 2024

Last year, we bought 10 mattresses. It wasn’t enough for all the children. Many of our children sleep two to a mattress. But this year, thanks to a larger sum of money received, we were able to buy another 10 mattresses. Now we have 20 mattresses, which covers more than half of our children. The cost of 10 mattresses is 2 million Ugandan currency, which is over 500 euros (depending on the exchange rate and commission). Buying another 10 mattresses is a great and wonderful investment. Thank you very much for all the donations we received from you. Joy! Furaha!

New clothes.

March 2024

A helpful group from Croatia called “creative society” made a donation for our children. Therefore we were able to buy new clothes. The boys got new T-shirts and elegant shirts, while the girls were happy with new, colorful dresses. We would like to thank the group from Croatia for showing their hearts and their joy, which reached the other side of the world straight to Uganda!

Books for school.

February 2024

At the beginning of the month, we bought books for the children for school. School will start next week. We’re happy that we could equip the children with the necessary books for learning, as well as pens and pencils. We’re pleased and excited that the children go to school and receive education. – It’s not as obvious for all children and families as it is in Europe and America. Five children are still too young to go to school, but their time will come soon too! Wish our children success in school and a future full of hope.

The visitation from Italy.

January 2024

Gabriel and the grounds of our mission were visited by a brother from Italy. This brother chose to spend a week in Uganda, among other reasons, to enjoy good times with Gabriel and the children. The children radiated immense joy, ‘Furaha!’ because, for the first time, a white person from Europe had traveled halfway around the world to share a meal with them, pray for them and bless them.

Flip flops.

July, September and December 2023

We managed to purchase sandals for the children several times. We remember how in 2022, when we started, many children did not have shoes to protect their feet. This led to cuts, injuries, and even infections. Thanks to the sandals, children are now safe and happy.

Mattresses.

September 2023

Thanks to your donations on GoFundMe, we were able to purchase mattresses for the children. It was quite a significant expense because one mattress in Uganda costs around 40 euros. This brought a lot of comfort to the children and improved their sleep. Before, some children slept two to a mattress, and our old mattresses were damaged and weak. It brings great joy to equip our children’s center with increasingly better things. Furaha!

Dresses and shirts.

July 2023

We purchased materials and, with the help of a friend from the village, we sewed dresses and blouses for the children. It was the first time the children received new and unused clothing. A tremendous joy filled our center. The children proudly and joyfully wear their new colorful clothes. Thank you very much for your financial support.

Hot meals.

We consistently strive to provide warm meals and drinks for the children. Unfortunately, the reality is that we still heavily depend on your financial assistance to carry out such projects. Nonetheless, our spirit of joy remains alive, and we cherish every moment. Thank you very much!
